Cook made a magnificent start to his Test career with a century on debut in India, and has continued to post big scores.

Had a difficult Ashes campaign, but the encouraging thing for England was that he visably improved throughout the tour, culminating in a patient 116 in Perth.

If he continues his form then he will camp out at the top of the England order for years to come, and could be a future captain.
